Randstad USA is seeking an Automation Engineer to lead development, optimization, and strategic advancement of automation systems in manufacturing. You will mentor team members and collaborate cross-functionally to deploy best-in-class solutions while ensuring ITAR compliance.

The role focuses on automation systems, robotics, vision systems, and control hardware, with a strong emphasis on improving efficiency, scalability, and performance across operations.

Qualifications

  • 4 years of experience in automation/engineering
  • Associate degree or equivalent in a related field
  • ITAR compliance required for all applicants

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical expert for automation systems, robotics, vision systems, sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics, and motion controls.
  • Manage complex automation and tooling projects from concept to completion; lead capital equipment justification, specification, and validation within budget and schedule targets.
  • Design parts, fixtures, and EOAT using 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Cimitron, AutoCAD 2D, SolidWorks Electrical).
  • Program and troubleshoot PLCs, industrial networks, automation communication protocols, low voltage controls, and three-phase power systems.
  • Lead NPI and drive lean continuous improvement initiatives, establish KPIs, and perform root-cause analysis on bottlenecks.
  • Partner with Engineering, Tooling, and Quality teams to standardize practices and mentor junior engineers and technicians.

Job description

We are seeking an Automation Engineer to lead the development, optimization, and strategic advancement of our automation systems. In this role, you will act as a technical leader—driving efficiency, scalability, and performance across manufacturing operations while mentoring team members and partnering cross-functionally to deploy best-in-class solutions. All applicatns MUST be ITAR compliant

salary: $90,000 - $125,000 per year

shift: First

work hours: 7 AM - 3:30 PM

Responsibilities
  • Automation & System Integration: Serve as the primary technical expert for automation systems, robotics (3-axis, 5-axis, 6-axis), vision systems, sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics, and motion controls.
  • Project & Capital Management: Manage complex automation and tooling projects from concept to completion; lead capital equipment justification, specification, and validation efforts within budget and schedule targets.
  • Design & Tooling: Design parts, fixtures, and End of Arm Tooling (EOAT) using 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Cimitron, AutoCAD 2D, SolidWorks Electrical).
  • Programming & Controls: Program and troubleshoot PLCs, industrial networks, automation communication protocols, low voltage controls, and three-phase power systems.
  • Continuous Improvement & NPI: Lead new product introductions (NPI), establish performance KPIs, conduct root-cause analysis on production bottlenecks, and drive lean continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Partner with Engineering, Tooling, and Quality teams to standardize best practices, ensure machine safety/risk assessments, and mentor junior engineers and technicians.
