Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific in Greenville, NC is seeking an automation engineer to provide support for pharmaceutical process control systems. You will work under mentorship to develop and implement automation solutions that meet GMP and data integrity requirements.

The role emphasizes collaboration with site maintenance teams, documentation, and startup support, with a training period of about six months and potential for 24‑hour on‑call coverage.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• One to three years of validated experience in pharmaceutical automation and/or control system applications is preferred.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States now and in the future, without sponsorship.
• Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check, including a drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Provide automation support for existing and future pharmaceutical process control systems.
• Develop and implement technology to achieve user goals in a timely and efficient manner.
• Support automation projects by providing system design requirements to ensure GMP and data integrity.
• Create user documentation and procedures to support new systems and startups.
• Collaborate with site maintenance teams and communicate issue resolutions to supervision.
• After training, contribute to 24‑hour on‑call automation support.
