Job summary

Marotta Controls is seeking an Engineer II, Production Automation in Chaska, MN. The role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining automated systems to drive efficiency and quality in aerospace electric motor production.

Qualifications include a B.S. in Electrical engineering and 4+ years in automation within manufacturing. Proficiency in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMIs, and robotics is required, with Lean/Six Sigma experience and strong problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or related field.
4+ years of automation engineering experience in manufacturing (electric motor or electromechanical systems preferred).
Proficiency in PLC programming, HMI development, and industrial control systems.
Familiarity with motor assembly processes (winding, stator/rotor, bonding, machining).
Experience with robotic integration (Fanuc, ABB, UR).
Experience in lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
Strong knowledge of industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, ProfiNet).
Knowledge of MES, SCADA, data acquisition; strong problem-solving and communication skills.
US Citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

Participate in selection, specification, and commissioning of automation equipment.
Design new automated systems and processes for new products or improvements.
Investigate and resolve production issues effectively.
Implement improvements to enhance efficiency.
Communicate with suppliers to procure equipment.
Assemble and test automation hardware.
Analyze layout, workflow, and workforce utilization to maximize efficiency.
Create and maintain manufacturing documentation (operations sheets, routers, setup/tooling sheets).
Develop electrical schematics, logic diagrams, and system manuals.
Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to tool/fixture design and factory layout.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support new product introductions and process improvements.
Ensure standardization and first-pass yield improvements.
Generate accurate manufacturing estimates (setup, cycle time, material).
Communicate issues promptly to internal and external stakeholders.
