Job summary

Jabil is seeking an Automation Engineer I to support deployment, integration, and optimization of manufacturing automation systems at the site level. This role emphasizes hands-on work on assembly, test, and vision-based automation, collaborating with production, engineering, maintenance, and external suppliers.

The position is execution-focused, not design engineering, with duties including implementation, validation, startup, and continuous improvement to boost OEE and reduce downtime.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Knowledge of automation systems, mechatronics, PLCs, robotics, and vision systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in manufacturing environments; Lean knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with implementation and industrialization of automation systems for assembly, testing, and vision inspection.
• Support manufacturability assessments, process readiness, and product integration into automation systems.
• Support installation, integration, FAT/SAT, startup, and production ramp of new equipment.
• Provide hands-on support for mechanical, electrical, PLC, robotic, and integrated systems.
• Rapidly resolve issues to minimize downtime and improve system reliability.
• Drive improvements in OEE, cycle time, scrap, and downtime.
• Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, Maintenance, and external suppliers to optimize system performance.
• Help develop work instructions and troubleshooting guides.
• Train operators and technicians on equipment.
