Job summary

Jobtailor in Muscle Shoals, AL is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to design, program, and troubleshoot manufacturing automation equipment.

You will simulate processes, validate designs, and develop detailed technical documentation while training colleagues and supporting after-hours remote troubleshooting.

Qualifications

Engineering degree or technical degree with relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Identify opportunities for automation and design.
Manage a project team when needed.
Design new automation equipment or processes.

Job description

Responsibilities

Identifying new opportunities for automation and design
Management of a project team when necessary
Designing new automation equipment or processes
Simulating and testing these processes or equipment to ensure they function as desired
Development of documentation for the new equipment and processes
Programming new automated components to the manufacturing process
Developing and maintaining clear and accurate documentation of automation equipment or processes
Provide training where necessary - typically after implementing new processes or equipment, or making changes to existing ones
Troubleshooting automated processes or equipment when errors occur

Requirements

Engineering Degree with 3-5 years' experience in plant technical role or technical degree with 7 years’ experience preferably in a rolling industry.
Technical skills mastery- Design, validation, and troubleshooting.
Proficient with high level schematics, PLC code and low to medium voltage equipment.
Willingness to acquire new technical and leadership skills and share existing knowledge with colleagues.
Flexibility for remote technical support after hours.
Excellent computer skills particularly in programming and software development
Effective communication skills, both oral and written- Must be able to explain novel and complex ideas to stakeholders of all levels and within multidisciplinary teams.
Problem-solving and creative thinking will be required to troubleshoot problems as they arise and find effective solutions.
