Job summary

Multimatic in Indiana is seeking an experienced engineer to lead project management processes, focusing on equipment planning and product enhancement. Qualifications

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Leads the project management process inclusive of equipment planning, design, development and testing, and rate verification to support release of new products and product enhancements. Communicates feedback/results to appropriate stakeholders within the organization at appropriate project milestones.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, estimate, quote, evaluate, specify and purchase capital equipment and tooling for new programs or modifications to existing programs within budget.
  • Interact and direct vendors to provide equipment and tooling to company's standards and performance expectations.
  • Develop timelines and maintain through follow‑up.
  • Understand and perform tolerance stack‑ups. Solid understanding of GD&T and datum scheme.
  • Ensure that the product is manufactured to all engineering/customer and manufacturing specifications.
  • Provide technical support on all product launches within the company.
  • Investigate new state‑of‑the‑art technologies that may enhance profitability.
  • Assist in engineering and manufacturing feasibility studies.
  • Assist in preparation of quotes.
  • Establish program timing parameters and ensure schedules are maintained.
  • Analyze and assist in tooling and manufacturing process.
  • Work with Process Engineers and related department managers/supervisors to plan and implement new or revised process flows for improving plant layout and efficiencies.
  • Assist in procuring and sourcing tooling and equipment for new programs. Ensure said tooling/equipment complies with company and customer specifications, standards and expectations.
  • Dedicate efforts toward maximizing company profitability.
  • Maintain confidentiality of the company and its business.
  • Work in compliance with all legislative requirements of OSHA and be accountable for specific health and safety responsibilities.
  • Work independently, present an image of total company commitment to customer, maintain ownership of projects and work effectively with others to coordinate all aspects of the job.
  • Perform other duties as determined by the Assistant General Manager.
Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, tool and die design or industrial engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Ten years’ experience in engineering and automation.
  • Some experience in tooling is a plus.
  • Experience in a manufacturing facility, especially automotive background, is an asset.
  • Excellent problem‑solving techniques.
  • Some travel as required by company or customer.
  • Training in SPC, FMEA, DOE, PFMEA, DDI, GD&T, APQP.
  • Computer skills in the areas of databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
