Job summary

Andelyn Biosciences in Columbus, OH, seeks an Automation Engineer to join the Facilities and Engineering team, delivering automation solutions (HMI, PLCs, SCADA) to support CG&T development and manufacturing.

The role focuses on modifying automation systems, documenting changes, performing tests, and supporting QA/compliance activities in a GMP environment across Columbus and Dublin facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering or other relevant field.
• Minimum of 3 years of Automation, Instrumentation & Controls, or other relevant technical experience.
• Background in programming, design, installation and lifecycle management of manufacturing process controls and automation technologies.
• Experience with process control networks and integration using OPC/DeviceNet technologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain automation solutions (HMI, PLCs, SCADA) for process areas.
• Perform automation activities: coding, documentation, testing.
• Support CAPAs, Deviations, and Change Controls under GMP.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Maintenance, and Validation.
• Provide training and present information to teams and stakeholders.
• Lead automation assessments for new products or technologies and support qualification runs.
• Manage day-to-day on-site/on-call support for automation systems.
• Document solutions and ensure data integrity and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate with DTS to ensure network compatibility and security.
• Lead projects and coordinate external service providers to meet regulatory expectations.
• Ensure coverage of critical systems across Columbus and Dublin locations.
