PSI in Lexington, KY is seeking an Automation Engineer to develop and implement AI-enabled manufacturing improvements, increasing competitiveness and reducing fixed costs across North America.

The role collaborates with robotics and controls engineers and plant teams to integrate AI into production systems and evaluate emerging Physical AI technologies while ensuring safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in a technical field (or equivalent experience).
• Demonstrated experience with manufacturing automation deployments.
• Experience in robotics, AI/ML, or advanced automation development.
• Full-stack mindset, delivering complete solutions, not just isolated AI components.
• Hands-on experience in two of the listed areas (vision, ML, robotics, software).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with robotics, controls, and plant teams to integrate AI into production systems.
• Evaluate and implement emerging Physical AI technologies through benchmarking and engagement.
• Ensure safety, reliability, and manufacturability, aligned with standards and risk assessments.
• Present concepts, results, and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership.
• Manage contractors to design and construct testing cells.
• Produce clear documentation to support scaling and customer enablement.
