Job summary

Autoliv in Ogden, Utah seeks an Automation Engineer to design, program, and maintain high-performance automation systems on the production floor. You will collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve efficiency, quality, and reliability using PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and vision systems.

You will develop and troubleshoot PLC programs (Rockwell Studio 5000), integrate sensors and networks, support launches, and provide off-shift coverage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field related to automation or manufacturing.
• Experience in automotive or regulated manufacturing environments with automated production systems.
• Strong understanding of industrial automation, controls, robotics, and manufacturing processes.
• Willingness to work on the production floor and support launches or critical events.
• Flexibility for extended hours and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement control systems for automated manufacturing equipment (PLCs, HMIs, robotics, motion control).
• Program and optimize industrial robots for assembly, material handling, and inspection.
• Develop and troubleshoot PLC programs using Rockwell Studio 5000.
• Support integration of vision systems, sensors, barcode scanners, and networks to enhance automation.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to improve equipment performance and safety.

In this role you will be responsible for collaborating with engineering and production teams to develop, program, implement, and maintain high-performance automation systems, leveraging advanced robotics and control technologies to optimize manufacturing efficiency, quality, and reliability.

Should you be interested in overseeing these tasks and aiming for enhanced performance standards, your role will involve:

• Design, develop, and implement control systems for automated manufacturing equipment, including PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and motion control technologies.
• Program, integrate, and optimize industrial robots for assembly, material handling, inspection, and other automated production processes.
• Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot PLC programs using platforms such as Rockwell Automation Studio 5000 to ensure reliable machine performance.
• Support the integration of vision systems, sensors, barcode scanners, and industrial communication networks to enhance automation efficiency and quality control.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to improve equipment performance, ensure compliance with safety standards, and drive continuous process optimization.

If You Have/are

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automation, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience in automotive or other regulated manufacturing environments with exposure to automated production systems.
• Strong understanding of industrial automation, controls, robotics, and manufacturing processes.
• Ability and willingness to work on the production floor, support off-shift manufacturing issues, and provide support during launches or critical production events.
• Flexibility to work occasional extended hours and travel as needed for training, equipment commissioning, or technical support activities.
