Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in the Seattle area seeks a Systems Development Engineer to own automation for Windows services. You will design Ansible roles, build AWS CDK pipelines, and implement CloudWatch observability to reduce manual toil.

You will participate in on-call rotations, drive repeatable infrastructure patterns, and mentor junior engineers in automation best practices. A TS/SCI with polygraph clearance is required for consideration.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 1+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby
• Cloud+ or GICSP (Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional) or GSEC (GIAC Security Essentials) or SSCP (Systems Security Certified Practitioner), or Associate's degree or above
• 5+ years of systems design, software development, operations, automation, and process improvement experience
• Experience with infrastructure as code, ops automation, and configuration management tools such as Chef, Puppet, or Ansible
• Working familiarity with Windows Server infrastructure: Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy

Responsibilities

• Own automation architecture: Design and implement the Ansible automation framework that manages Core Services infrastructure at scale
• Build delivery pipelines: Develop and maintain AWS CI/CD pipelines (CDK, CodePipeline, CodeBuild)
• Instrument and monitor: Build CloudWatch-based observability with dashboards, alarms, and metrics
• Operate and support: Maintain production Windows infrastructure services and participate in on-call rotation
• Eliminate manual operations: Migrate manual runbook processes to code-defined automation
• Establish engineering standards: Define patterns for infrastructure-as-code, testing, and deployments
• Mentor and lead technically: Guide junior engineers on automation practices and design reviews
• Maintain documentation: Create architecture docs and runbooks
