Job summary

Cummins Inc. in York, SC is seeking a Controls Tech III on the 2nd shift to join our Manufacturing team. This role focuses on automation design, control system troubleshooting, and program development to improve equipment performance and safety.

You will work with engineering, maintenance, and operations to ensure reliable commissioning, robust documentation, and continuous improvement across manufacturing processes. A strong emphasis on safety and cross-functional collaboration is required.

Qualifications

• Advanced Controls Troubleshooting: diagnose and resolve complex electrical, controls, PLC, SCADA issues with minimal supervision.
• PLC, HMI & SCADA Programming: develop, modify, troubleshoot, and validate PLC, HMI, SCADA programs.
• Electrical & Controls Maintenance: troubleshoot on panels, VFDs, servos, sensors, and networks.
• Equipment Commissioning & Start-Up: support commissioning, start-up, integration, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Root Cause Analysis: investigate recurring failures and implement corrective actions.
• Safety & Standards Compliance: apply lockout/tagout and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Drive Automation Excellence: design, implement, and improve automation for efficiency.
• Troubleshoot Critical Control Systems to minimize downtime and restore equipment performance quickly.
• Develop & Optimize Machine Programs to improve utilization and process performance.
• Champion Safety in Manufacturing: identify hazards and promote safe work practices.
• Partner Across Functions: collaborate with engineering, maintenance, operations, quality and production teams.
