What your day looks likeYou start by zeroing in on a stubborn PLC fault on a Rockwell controller, confirming I/O health and ladder logic, then pivot to a quick code tweak on a Mitsubishi PLC. After a stand‑up with the team, you load a basic program onto a Fanuc robot and verify motion paths. Before lunch, you dial in parameters on SEW, Allen‑Bradley, and Mitsubishi servo/VFD drives to stabilize throughput. The afternoon is a mix of commissioning tasks, assisting electricians on HMI hardware, and wrapping a root‑cause analysis after a severe downtime event. You finish by updating documentation and planning tomorrow’s project milestones. What you’ll tackleTroubleshoot PLC platforms (Rockwell, Mitsubishi) and resolve controls issues.Program and troubleshoot Fanuc robots at a foundational level.Configure and troubleshoot servo and VFD systems, including SEW, Allen Bradley, and Mitsubishi.Configure and troubleshoot HMI systems.Train and assist electricians to troubleshoot, repair, replace, and commission electrical control devices: AC/DC drives, servo controllers, contactors, motors, breakers, solenoids, and power supplies.Coach electricians on PLC/HMI hardware, covering processors, discrete/analog I/O cards, power supplies, network adapters, distributed I/O, message displays, PC‑based interfaces, and operator interfaces such as PanelView.Provide direction, assistance, and training to maintenance electricians in other technical areas as needed.Support basic maintenance of networking/communications, including DeviceNet, ControlNet, and Ethernet/IP.Plan and coordinate engineering project work with team members; participate in commissioning and start‑up.Troubleshoot automation systems and assist across electrical/controls projects as required.Lead root‑cause analysis for severe downtime incidents. What you bringAssociate’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, or a closely related field (required).2+ years of experience in Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical role (required).Regular and predictable attendance; strong team collaboration.Willingness to work overtime as workload or projects dictate, including weekends and holidays.Understanding of interfaces in manufacturing—how the glass process, controls, and robotics work in concert.Core competenciesProficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (advanced/intermediate).Excellent written and verbal communication.Demonstrated ability to lead, direct, and instruct others on tasks and processes.Hands‑on approach to troubleshooting and analysis with excellent analytical skills.Live by example the Carlex Values – Safety, Accountability, Results Oriented, Team Approach, Customer Focused, and strong Integrity and Ethics; actively teach and encourage these values in others.Other duties as required.
