Job summary
BlueScope Coated Products, LLC in Memphis, TN seeks a Control Systems Engineer to lead automation projects and daily maintenance within the Maintenance and Engineering team. You will direct the design, installation, and commissioning of robotic and automation equipment, and maintain SOPs and drawings to ensure reliability and safety.
The role emphasizes PLC ladder logic updates, KPI achievement, and cross‑functional training for operations and maintenance staff, with a focus on uptime and cost
Qualifications
- BS in Electrical Engineering required.
- 3+ years’ automation/robotics/mechatronics project work.
- PLC experience with Allen Bradley systems (SLC 500, RSLogix 5/500/5000, PLC5, ControlLogix, Micrologix, PanelView).
- Ability to perform PLC math (tension, RPM, scaling) for control.
- Experience leading automation project implementation from feasibility to handover.
Responsibilities
- Lead procurement, installation, commissioning, and training of new equipment.
- Direct maintenance, reliability, and performance improvements.
- Rewrite/modify PLC ladder logic to meet KPIs and safety standards.
- Develop SOPs and training materials for operations and maintenance.
- Provide daily communication with Production and Quality Control to resolve issues.
