Job summary

Adecco Permanent Recruitment is partnering with a leading Kansas City manufacturing client to identify a full-time Controls Engineer role. You will develop, support, and improve PLC-based controls, automation projects, and equipment upgrades, driving performance and uptime.

You will troubleshoot controls issues, program PLCs and HMIs, support robotics and vision systems, and collaborate with vendors to implement safe, efficient automation solutions in a fast-paced production environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Programming, or related technical field preferred.
• 2+ years of controls engineering or industrial automation experience.
• Hands-on PLC programming experience (Allen-Bradley preferred).
• Experience with HMIs, vision systems, and automated manufacturing equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Manufacturing experience with Lean principles and process improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Develop, support, and improve PLC-based controls, automation projects, and equipment upgrades.
• Troubleshoot controls issues to minimize downtime and improve production performance.
• Program and maintain PLCs, HMIs, and vision systems.
• Support robotics, automated assembly systems, and industrial communication networks.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, efficiency, and throughput.
• Collaborate with vendors and internal teams on new equipment installations and automation solutions.
