CertainTeed in Ennis, TX is seeking an Automation Controls Engineer to design, implement, and optimize electrical and control systems across our manufacturing facility. You will lead projects, mentor technicians, and drive process reliability with hands-on problem solving.

The role requires a BS in Electrical Engineering, 3+ years in controls, and strong PLC/HMI/SCADA skills. Excellent collaboration and safety focus are essential for success in this fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Requires a BS in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years in Controls & Automation in continuous process manufacturing or similar.
• Hands-on problem solver with on-site and remote support across multiple plants.
• Experience programming Allen Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix).
• HMI development experience, Ignition or Wonderware preferred.
• Familiarity with NEC, NFPA standards and industrial networks.

Responsibilities

• Develop and commission plant automation systems including PLCs and HMI/SCADA.
• Lead and coordinate automation retrofit projects with drives and control upgrades.
• Direct contractors and engineering partners; manage project scopes and budgets.
• Review production data to identify efficiency improvements.
• Ensure regulatory electrical compliance and after-hours support.
