AST SpaceMobile is seeking a Controls Engineer to design, develop, implement, and maintain industrial control systems across manufacturing and testing environments.

The role focuses on building reliable control architectures, programming PLCs and HMIs, and integrating automation equipment while collaborating with mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, and operations teams to boost safety, quality, and productivity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechatronics engineering.
• Experience programming PLCs and HMIs.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork.
• Safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop control systems for automated equipment and processes.
• Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
• Develop control architecture using PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and motion controllers.
• Program, test, and commission PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff, Schneider).
• Develop and maintain HMI/SCADA interfaces.
• Integrate robotics and industrial networks.
• Support FAT/SAT, startup, commissioning, and validation.
• Maintain documentation and backups.
• Implement safety interlocks and compliant systems.
