Job summary

Carlex Glass America, LLC in Nashville, TN is seeking an Automation Engineer to support production by troubleshooting and programming plant automation equipment, and to design PLC controls for existing and new lines.

This role requires a BSEE/BSME, 3–5 years PLC/robot programming experience, Siemens S7 experience a plus, and hands-on knowledge of Fanuc and ABB robotics, vision systems, wiring, and drive controls.

Qualifications

Bachelor degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering required.
3–5 years of experience programming and troubleshooting PLCs and robots.
1–3 years Siemens S7 programming experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Support production by troubleshooting and programming existing and new plant automation equipment.
Program and design new and existing PLC controls.
Travel to sister plants as needed for completion of core job functions.
Maintain accurate and consistent schedules for projects and tasks for multiple plant projects.
Programming of robots and touching up points as needed to support production needs.
Improve line flow, cycle time issues and quality concerns by changes in programming or troubleshooting.
Help plan preventative maintenance plans for equipment in the plant both new and current.
Develop new technology for the plant to improve cycle times and quality detection/prevention systems.
Help train plant techs and engineers on controls related skills.
Create and correct plant electrical drawings for equipment.
Work with plant teams to develop accurate quoting models.
