Job summary

Bloom Energy is seeking an Equipment Controls Engineer to develop, program, commission, and optimize automated systems for new product development and high-volume ramp-up. This role bridges electrical, mechanical, and software engineering across in-house tools and external teams in Fremont, CA.

You will program PLCs, configure SCADA/MES/HMI interfaces, and troubleshoot control systems while supporting NPI and production ramp-up.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related discipline.
0-2 years of experience in industrial automation and system integration.
Experience with Allen Bradley PLC ladder logic programming.
Strong interest in developing and commissioning control systems including SCADA, MES, PLCs, HMIs, motion controls, and vision systems.
Ability to read electrical schematics and P&ID diagrams.
Structured text programming experience (preferably Python, C, or C++).
Good written and verbal communication; self-starter and able to work independently.

Responsibilities

Set up, program, and test control systems for process development and manufacturing.
Use industrial communication protocols to enable reliable data exchange between systems.
Lead commissioning activities with cross-functional teams and document transfer of automation processes to Operations.
Support NPI and high-volume ramp-up with Operations.
Collaborate with Process, Mechanical, Electrical, and Software teams to define new requirements for in-house designed equipment.
