Job Description:
We are looking for a talented Manufacturing Automation Controls Engineer to support Electrical/Controls design, quoting, implementation, and validation of equipment/systems necessary for efficient manufacturing. The Controls Engineer is always looking for ways to improve processes and fix issues through continuous improvement, new processes, and implementing proper systems.
Responsibilities Include:
- Effectively analyzing existing systems to evaluate improvement and recommend solutions.
- Develop, measure, and lead quarterly targets for continuous improvement automation cost savings projects at each RPS location.
- Lead data integrity methodologies for automated systems.
- Standardize and maintain current engineering processes, procedures, practices, equipment standards, and create a vendor list.
- Understand industry trends, direction, and standards that guide new technology offerings, using technology and market intelligence to provide strategic recommendations on initiatives to achieve business technology objectives.
- Understand sensors, robotics, complex mechanical designs, and various controls for automated systems.
- Ability to design electrical control systems for automated equipment.
- Assist in developing RPS automation bench strength in product, process, manufacturing engineering, and other technical functions.
- Work closely with advanced engineering and sales engineers to assure proper quoting of customer and RPS equipment/automation and ensure a smooth hand-off on new products and processes.
- Perform special assignments as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering or related field, or 7 years’ experience in a related field, or a combination of both.
- Strong knowledge of PLCs.
- The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and/or Electrical Engineering Technology.
- MUST HAVE experience diagnosing and repairing electrical issues in an industrial environment.
- Understand how programming methods, such as PLC and HMI, operate.
- Strong understanding of how to read blueprints.
- Strong understanding of standard operating procedures, engineering documentation, and electrical diagrams.
- Strong Electrical Knowledge (HMI, PLC, High Voltage, Low Voltage, Machine Controls).
- Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
- Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills.
Ability to travel 50%-60% of the time.
