Responsibilities
- Develop the electrical architecture for automated sewing cells.
- Evaluate, test, and integrate automation hardware & software into control systems of sew heads, robots, and PLCs.
- Advance surface feature scanning and motion control technology.
- Use robot simulation and offline programming tools to evaluate and implement new customer products.
- Develop sensor/actuator subsystems for sewing technologies.
- Package sewing head control systems.
- Configure, program, calibrate, and troubleshoot industrial robots for sewing applications.
- Maintain detailed BOMs and user/training manuals.
- Provide equipment specifications and quote requests.
- Assist in building, installing, and starting up automated sewing equipment and robot cells.
- Travel domestically and internationally as needed (5% to 30%).
Position Requirements
Required
- 5 years of robotics programming experience (KUKA, FANUC, ABB, etc.).
- 5 years’ experience with sensors and actuators in automation systems.
- Simulation/offline programming experience (Robotmaster, Roboguide, Octopuz, etc.).
- Structured programming skills (C, C++ in MS Visual Studio, Beckhoff, etc.).
- Source code management experience.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
- Willingness to travel for plant launches and build expertise in industrial sewing.
- Strong communication skills in English.
- Ability to multitask and complete projects on time and within budget.
Preferred
- Experience with multiple robot manufacturers.
- Knowledge of Allen-Bradley and Siemens systems.
- Laser vision system experience.
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols.
- Experience with real-time operating systems and motor interfacing.
- Mechanical aptitude and understanding of automotive interior components.
- Sewing experience, especially chainstitch.
- Knowledge of sewing machines, threads, and materials.
- Problem-solving certification.
- Spanish language skills.
- Team-oriented personality.
