Responsibilities

  • Support, troubleshoot, and improve industrial automation and control systems.
  • Work hands-on with automated manufacturing equipment and robotic cells.
  • Assist with PLC and controls troubleshooting, programming, and system modifications.
  • Diagnose electrical, controls, sensor, communication, and equipment issues.
  • Support robotic systems used in multi-axis manufacturing operations.
  • Assist with installation, testing, commissioning, and validation of automation equipment.
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to improve equipment reliability.
  • Support preventive maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives related to automation systems.
  • Maintain controls documentation and updates to equipment configurations.
  • Develop technical knowledge of existing automation platforms while taking on more responsibility.

Position Summary

We are seeking an Automation Controls Engineer to join a hands-on manufacturing and engineering environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career controls professional who wants to develop their technical skills while working directly with industrial automation, robotic cells, controls systems, and production equipment.

The ideal candidate has a strong electrical or automation foundation, enjoys troubleshooting equipment, and is interested in growing into greater responsibility within controls and automation engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support, troubleshoot, and improve industrial automation and control systems.
  • Work hands‑on with automated manufacturing equipment and robotic cells.
  • Assist with PLC and controls troubleshooting, programming, and system modifications.
  • Diagnose electrical, controls, sensor, communication, and equipment issues.
  • Support robotic systems used in multi‑axis manufacturing operations.
  • Assist with the installation, testing, commissioning, and validation of automation equipment.
  • Work with engineering and manufacturing teams to improve equipment reliability and performance.
  • Support preventive maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives related to automation systems.

Qualifications

  • Technical/trade‑school training, associate degree, bachelor's degree, or equivalent hands‑on experience in Automation, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Controls, Robotics, or a related field.
  • Hands‑on exposure to industrial automation, controls, robotics, or automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Basic understanding of PLCs, electrical controls, sensors, motors, drives, and industrial equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and controls‑related issues.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new controls platforms, equipment, and technologies.
  • Strong problem‑solving and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ABB training, certifications, or hands‑on experience.
  • Experience working with robotic manufacturing cells.
  • Exposure to multi‑axis robotic systems.
  • PLC programming or troubleshooting experience.Experience with HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, sensors, and industrial networks.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, production, or industrial environment.
