Job summary

Rivian’s Spring Co-Op in Mechanical Engineering focuses on automating CAD-driven tasks and PLM data pipelines to accelerate vehicle development. You’ll work with core engineers to replace repetitive work with smart workflows, enabling faster, higher-quality design iteration.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in a mechanical/mechatronics program, with CAD tool experience (CATIA/SolidWorks/NX) and programming skills (Python/VBA/MATLAB/C++). The program runs Jan–Aug, 2027, onsite in Torrance, CA.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s in a relevant engineering field.
• Active enrollment during the internship term.
• Solid grasp of GD&T and DFM/ DFA principles.
• Proficiency with CAD tools CATIA/SolidWorks/NX; PLM exposure (Enovia/Teamcenter).
• Hands-on programming experience (Python/VBA/MATLAB/C/C++) for engineering tasks.

Responsibilities

• Map mechanical design and release workflows to find bottlenecks.
• Develop, test, and deploy scripts and CAD tools to automate tasks.
• Streamline data flow in PLM systems and BOM structures.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers to gather requirements and test tools.
• Create technical docs and train staff on new automated workflows.
