Job summary

SpaceX is hiring an Automation Build Engineer for the Development Operations team in Texas. You will lead large-scale projects, optimize fabrication and integration processes, and coordinate across automation, supply chain, and vendors to meet program milestones.

You will design and implement new manufacturing workflows, manage modular automation assets, and contribute to design reviews for manufacturability and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
• 2+ years of experience in design, manufacturing, and/or production of mechanical or electrical hardware systems.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary liaison between automation, supply chain, production, and development operations to ensure factory infrastructure is built and deployed to meet program milestones.
• Ideate and implement new manufacturing processes and workflows within the development operations team to increase shop throughput, efficiency and personnel safety.
• Manage the build, configuration and installation of all modular automation assets from raw material purchase to complete cell build and handoff to automation/production.
• Work with peer engineering and support teams to drive design updates in response to manufacturing issues, part obsolescence, and system requirement changes.
• Prepare engineering documentation for the transition from development to production including assembly procedures, integration instruction and manufacturing bills of materials.
• Work with suppliers and internal vendors to fabricate parts and sub-assemblies to meet production needs.
• Contribute to design reviews with expertise in manufacturability, reliability, maintenance, and supplier capabilities.
• Spearhead cost-reduction initiatives without compromising quality.
• Design, develop, validate, and implement tooling for repeatability and efficiency.
• Serve as primary contact for non-conforming product and perform root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Develop training requirements for built technician personnel to elevate team capability.
• Innovate to support SpaceX goals and challenge the status quo.
