Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Supplier Development Engineer to drive automated manufacturing equipment and control systems at contract manufacturers. You will oversee end‑to‑end equipment development, from concept through qualification and ramp, focusing on automation cells, fixtures, conveyors, and control architectures.

You will engage suppliers early, design robust fixtures, optimize lines, program PLCs/HMI/SCADA, and lead DOE/PPAP‑style activities to ensure throughput and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, controls or related engineering field.
• 1+ years in automation equipment development, controls engineering, or line deployment.

Responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end development and qualification of automation equipment at contract manufacturers.
• Engage with suppliers on equipment selection, fixturing, and controls architecture for high‑volume manufacturing.
• Design and qualify custom fixtures, workholding, and poka‑yoke to ensure repeatability and safety.
• Develop conveyor systems, routing logic, and material flow to maximize throughput.
• Program and debug PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA for automated cells and ensure proper safety interlocks.
