Job summary

Colanar is seeking an entry-level Assembly Technician to join our growing manufacturing team. This hands-on role involves assembling, aligning, testing, calibrating, and preparing complex automated equipment for operation with training provided from day one.

The position emphasizes mechanical aptitude, willingness to learn, and the ability to read drawings and schematics. Work occurs in a controlled manufacturing environment with limited travel.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, technical certification, trade school training, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and an interest in building, repairing, or working with machinery and equipment.
  • Willingness to learn new technical skills and work in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to use common hand tools and basic power tools safely and effectively.
  • Ability to read and follow technical instructions, drawings, schematics, and assembly documentation, or the willingness to learn.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn how to navigate 3D models and digital technical documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble automated equipment and machinery using mechanical drawings, assembly prints, 3D models, and other technical documentation.
  • Perform mechanical assembly, including fitting, fastening, sanding, polishing, grinding, alignment, and adjustment of components.
  • Assemble and install electrical components, wiring, sensors, and other electrical system components according to schematics and instructions.
  • Install and connect pneumatic components and systems used in automated equipment.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and assembly documentation.
  • Use 3D models and digital engineering tools to identify components, understand assemblies, and complete equipment builds.
  • Perform system alignments, calibration, adjustments, and functional testing to ensure equipment meets required specifications.
  • Use precision measurement and diagnostic tools such as calipers, amp meters, and dial indicators.
  • Assist with troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and operational issues during equipment assembly and testing.
  • Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and other technical team members to identify and resolve equipment issues.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following established manufacturing and safety procedures.
  • Assist with equipment preparation, modifications, rebuilding, and final testing prior to shipment or installation.
  • Participate in occasional local equipment installation or maintenance activities when additional technician support is required.
