Job summary

Papa Johns is seeking a Senior Manager, QE Automation & Architecture to lead automation strategy and framework development across QA teams. The role focuses on scalable testing architectures, CI/CD integration, and governance to drive elite DORA performance by 2030.

The candidate will mentor automation engineers, define KPIs, and align testing with business objectives while advancing AI/ML-assisted testing and cloud testing norms.

Qualifications

• 20+ years in QE/QA with 10+ years focused on automation architecture and leading automation efforts with teams.
• Hands-on expertise with automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium, RestAssured, or equivalent)
• Deep experience integrating test automation into CI/CD pipelines (Harness, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or equivalent)
• Strong programming/scripting skills in at least one language (Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript)
• Deep Experience with API testing, mobile test automation, and device cloud/grid platforms
• Demonstrated ability to define automation governance standards and test architecture best practices
• Experience with Tools strategy – vetting, review, rationalization, planning, optimization and vendor coordination

Responsibilities

• Define and own the automation strategy, framework architecture, and toolchain across all QE teams
• Design and implement scalable test automation frameworks for web, mobile, API, and integration testing layers
• Rationalize and review existing Test automation tools and efforts to optimize and strategically align with business objectives
• Build test automation process from qualification, intake and prioritization, to maintenance and sunsetting
• Lead the integration of automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines, supporting Elite DORA status by 2030
• Establish standards for automation scripting, code review, and test infrastructure governance
• Drive automation coverage growth across functional, regression and performance
• Partner with DevOps and Cloud/Infrastructure teams to align test environments, pipeline reliability, and canary/staged deployment testing strategies
• Define and monitor automation KPIs — including automation execution velocity, pipeline pass rates, and flakiness rates
• Evaluate and onboard new testing tools and technologies, including AI/ML-assisted testing approaches
• Champion shift-left testing by embedding automated checks early in the development lifecycle
• Lead and mentor automation engineers and architects within the QE organization
