Job summary

Toptal is seeking an execution-focused Workflow Automation Developer to design, build, and deploy end-to-end business process automations that streamline operations. The role emphasizes practical automation using Jira, GitLab API, Angular, and AI integration rather than AI research.

The ideal candidate will replace manual workflows with reliable automated tools, own the automation lifecycle from discovery to handoff, and deliver intuitive interfaces for non-technical users to run and monitor

Qualifications

• Experience designing and building business process automations used by non-developer business units.
• Hands-on mastery of Jira Automation with advanced smart values, conditional logic, webhooks.
• Direct experience building applications or scripts that interact with the GitLab REST API.
• Strong proficiency in Angular (TypeScript) to build internal UIs and dashboards.
• Practical experience leveraging AI services within automated workflows.

Responsibilities

• Identify manual workflows and map target-state processes to automated replacements.
• Develop Jira advanced orchestration and automation rules.
• Create GitLab REST API integrations to manage commits, pipelines, MRs.
• Build Angular frontends for triggering and monitoring workflows.
• Document workflows and produce user guides for adoption.
