Position Summary:

The Controls Engineer performs engineering design and installation services for automated process equipment, facility systems, and software systems. The incumbent performs troubleshooting and corrective maintenance with production equipment at Rising facilities. Primary responsibility is for maintaining automated electromechanical systems and software. This includes project support related to facility modifications, equipment installations, and maintenance activities. Typical project work involves developing specifications for equipment and systems and coordinating implementation activities to place the systems into service.

Routinely maintains, troubleshoots, and develops application solutions for automated electromechanical systems and software.

Experience:

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Experience in a senior level position with planning, scheduling, and organizing project activities.
  • Performs corrective maintenance on facility and production equipment including PLCs, vision systems, SCADA systems, automated packaging equipment, and high purity utility systems.
  • Work any shift and may require scheduled and unscheduled overtime.
  • Support manufacturing operations and improve methods for automated data collection, reporting, and equipment/system reliability.
  • Maintain open communication across departments and managerial lines.
  • Use software systems for Work Orders and Calibration.
  • Identify materials and parts for maintenance and order them using automated methods.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external personnel, ensuring timely and accurate documentation that meets GMP requirements.
Must Have:
  • Background in Pharmaceutical industry
  • Major in Electrical Engineering, Software, or related field with work experience
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience with industrial/process controls, PLCs, software editing and development
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley systems
  • Experience in project engineering/management roles
  • Knowledge of 21 CFR Part 11, GAMP 5, and upgrading SCADA, PLC, and HMI systems
  • Familiarity with QMS systems, Building Management Systems, Windows software, AutoCAD, and BMRAM
  • Support validation team for process and utility equipment qualification
Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Software, or related with at least 7 years' experience in controls and PLCs. Experience with Siemens and B&R preferred.
