Job summary

Teradyne is seeking an applications engineer to join its Total Test Solutions team, designing and developing custom automated test solutions for defense and aerospace technology. You will guide hardware design, develop software, and integrate completed parts.

You will develop strategy to turn complex customer requirements into complete automated test solutions, present strategy in standard design reviews, and collaborate with engineers to ensure design alignment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical field.
• 2+ years in Application Engineering, Test Development, or related experience; or a recent Master’s graduate.
• Strong programming skills in C# or other OO languages.
• Experience with Visual Studio or equivalent IDE and debugging tools.
• Familiarity with Git or similar source control tools.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical hardware with multimeter/oscilloscope.
• Excellent technical presentation skills.
• Willingness to work full‑time onsite, 5 days/week.
• Travel up to 10%+.
• Preferred: experience with TestStand/TestStudio and Spectrum equipment.

Responsibilities

• Develop strategy to translate complex customer requirements into automated test solutions (fixturing, cabling, software).
• Present planned strategy in design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR).
• Collaborate with electrical/mechanical engineers to guide design efforts.
• Develop C# software to operate automated test equipment and fixturing.
• Integrate new software and hardware; debug system issues.
• Develop Operator Interfaces using TestStand or similar environments.
• Provide documentation: manuals and version descriptions.
• Work with high-speed digital buses, ethernet, analog signals, power systems, etc.
• Primarily develop in C# with exposure to C, Python, LabVIEW.
