Job summary

Teradyne Defense & Aerospace Division seeks an Automated Test Applications Engineer (SW Dev., System Design & Integration) in North Reading, MA. You will lead the design and integration of automated test solutions for defense/aerospace programs, guiding hardware and software development from concept through deployment.

You will develop software in C#, create operator interfaces, and collaborate with electrical/mechanical engineers to ensure robust test systems. Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
• 2+ years of experience in Application Engineering using Automated Test Equipment or related roles
• Strong programming skills with C# or other OO languages
• Experience with Visual Studio or other IDE and debug tools
• Familiarity with Git or other source control tools
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical hardware using multimeter, oscilloscope, etc.
• Excellent technical presentation skills
• Comfortable working onsite full-time, 5 days per week
• Able to support travel up to 10% or more
• Prefer experience with TestStand and TestStudio
• Prefer experience with Spectrum 9100, Spectrum HS, or similar automated test equipment

Responsibilities

• Develop strategy to turn complex customer requirements into complete automated test solutions, including custom fixturing, cabling, and software
• Present the planned strategy in design reviews (System Requirement Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review)
• Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers to guide design efforts
• Develop custom software in C# to operate automated test equipment and fixturing
• Integrate new software and hardware, debug and solve system issues
• Develop Operator Interfaces using test executive environments like TestStand
• Provide documentation for the software you developed (operator manuals, version descriptions)
• Work with high-speed digital buses, ethernet, analog signals, power systems, etc.
• Develop primarily in C# with some exposure to C, Python, LabView
• Travel up to 10% for projects and tests
