Job summary

KIMCHUK INC, a fast-paced electronics contract manufacturing firm, is seeking an Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) Operator. The role focuses on operating the AOI machine, reviewing defects for accuracy, and ensuring high-quality SMT results.

Strong attention to detail and IPC-610 certification are preferred. Responsibilities include loading programs, visual PCB inspections, and communicating issues for quick corrections.

Qualifications

  • Experience in quality control and part identification.
  • IPC-A-610 certification completed (ESD safety training).
  • Experience operating SMT manufacturing equipment; soldering IPC-J-STD-001 helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Review AOI inspection for accurate detection of SMT paste, component placement and solder joint defects.
  • Load programs per documentation.
  • Visually inspect PC boards to confirm acceptable soldering.

Position Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) Operator

Description

JOB SUMMARY: Position operates the AOI machine and reviews identified defects for accuracy.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Review AOI inspection for accurate, consistent detection of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) paste, component placement and solder joint defects.
  • Load programs per documentation.
  • Visually inspect PC boards to confirm acceptable soldering
  • Using magnification aids and inspect populated printed circuit boards and identify component misplacement and solder defects to IPC-A-610 standards.
  • Ability to recognize problems in the operation process or with components and to highlight/communicate those problems to machine operator for immediate correction.
  • Alert production operations of any ongoing defects in products
  • Ability to sit for most of the working day.
  • Must be able to read and understand process sheets (work routers), V.A (visual aids), assembly drawings, component identification and component polarity.
  • Basic PC Knowledge.
  • Work within other areas of department when needed
  • Performs intermediate level preventative maintenance on machinery.
  • Responsible to keep the equipment clean and in good working order.
  • Enters transactions into computer, completes logs and records as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements
CANDIDATES SHOULD POSSESS:
  • Quality control and part identification experience.
  • Successful completion of ESD Safety training and IPC-A-610 certification.
  • Must exhibit knowledge and/or skill in operating equipment used in the area.
  • Soldering experience toward IPC-J-STD-001 is helpful.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Technical school or associates degree in electronics or experience in production of printed circuit boards preferred
