Base pay range

$80,000.00/yr - $100,000.00/yr

Optomi, in partnership with a prominent company in the Biotechnolgy industry, is seeking AutoCAD Drafters / Technical Designers to join a high-impact, fast-paced team within a regulated product development environment. This team supports mission-critical design work that contributes to breakthroughs in cell and gene therapy, medical treatment delivery, and bioproduction technologies.

This role will be primarily focused on 2D design, but experience or interest in 3D work is highly desirable as the team transitions to more complex, three-dimensional systems. Ideal candidates will bring both technical skill and a driven, proactive mindset—we’re looking for type A personalities who take ownership and move fast.

Prior experience in medical device, biotech, or similarly regulated environments is a strong plus. Candidates must be comfortable working within large-scale, enterprise-level organizations similar to Thermo Fisher in complexity and pace.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and refine high-quality 2D (and ideally 3D) CAD drawings used in the design and manufacturing of custom-engineered plastic bag systems for biological and fluid-handling applications
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers to develop solutions and drive innovation across both standard and custom product lines
• Apply design templates, validate specifications, and perform rigorous QA on technical drawings
• Assist with the development and maintenance of modular drawing libraries and template-based design tools

Must-Have Skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D required, 3D a strong plus)
• Ability to interpret complex engineering specifications and translate them into detailed technical drawings
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently and efficiently on drafting tasks
• Strong communication skills and a proactive, solutions-oriented work style

Preferred Experience

• Experience in medical device, biotech, pharmaceutical, or regulated manufacturing environments
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Mechanical or similar advanced CAD tools
• Exposure to PDM systems (e.g., PDM Enterprise, SolidWorks PDM)
• Understanding of modular design, design-for-manufacturing, and compliance documentation
