Global Category Lead – HR Services

What You Will Do

In this vital role you will be responsible for Global Category Management for HR Services, (Health & Wellness, Compensation & Benefits (C&B), Training & Development, Recruitment, and Contingent Labor). As Global Category Lead – HR Services (Talent Acquisition, Benefits, Contingent Labor, Training, and Mobility/Immigration) you will report to the Global Strategic Sourcing Corporate Services Lead in the USA (Remote). Your role includes developing multi-year category strategies that address business needs while delivering integrated 3rd party solutions. You will build enterprise-wide business partnerships, and activate Strategic Sourcing resources to get results, reducing costs and enabling topline performance. This role will drive supplier performance, manage risk, and deliver sustained value across a complex global HR Services landscape.

Strategic Contribution

  • Own and evolve the global sourcing strategy for HR Services, with a focus on unlocking value, optimizing supplier relationships, and mitigating risk.
  • Drive best in-class business partnerships with key functions such as Talent Acquisition, Benefits, Contingent Labor, Training, and Mobility/Immigration. Understand and influence business needs to drive procurement strategies that support enterprise priorities in a proactive manner.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and thought leader across the organization, delivering insights on market trends, supplier capabilities, and go-to-market standard processes tailored to the HR Services space.
  • Lead the creation of robust, financially grounded cases (e.g., build vs. buy, total cost of ownership, should cost modeling, supplier consolidation) that support procurement decisions and drive measurable impact.
  • Translate market trends into actionable sourcing strategies that support future HR capability needs.
  • Develop and implement multi-year category strategies that align with overall enterprise objectives, collaborator priorities, and long-term organizational goals.
  • Leverage data analytics and critical metrics to monitor category health, track performance against targets, and inform continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate across regions to develop global category strategies aligned to local business priorities.
  • Build relationships with external experts, peer companies, and industry bodies to bring leading practices and innovation back into Amgen’s HR Services sourcing strategy.

Leadership

  • Provide strategic oversight as the global lead for HR Services sourcing, ensuring alignment between category strategies and Amgen’s evolving business needs. Act as a trusted advisor to ensure that procurement initiatives are aligned with broader organizational objectives.
  • Guide and facilitate collaboration across cross-functional teams and regional partners, ensuring that procurement strategies meet the diverse needs of the organization and are implemented effectively.
  • Ensure that all HR Services engagements are managed in compliance with regulatory, contractual, and operational risk requirements. Partner with Legal, Compliance, Data Privacy, and Cybersecurity teams to maintain oversight of risk mitigation strategies and ensure alignment with best practices.
  • Collaborate with Strategic Sourcing peers to oversee the strategic approach to complex negotiations for HR Services contracts, providing guidance and ensuring that the right processes and frameworks are in place for RFPs, supplier evaluations, and contract development.
  • Demonstrate maturity to activate procurement resources towards category priorities while managing expectations with partners.

What We Expect Of You

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Global Strategic Sourcing, Procurement or HR Services experience

Or

Master’s degree and 4 years of Global Strategic Sourcing, Procurement or HR Services experience

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of Global Strategic Sourcing, Procurement or HR Services experience

Or

Associate’s degree and 10 years of Global Strategic Sourcing, Procurement or HR Services experience

Or

High school diploma/GED and 12 years of Global Strategic Sourcing, Procurement or HR Services experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated leadership in category management across HR Services categories, including vendor management, cost optimization, and performance measurement.
  • Deep understanding of category management principles, supplier relationship management, and contract lifecycle management.
  • Strong financial, legal, and contractual fluency to navigate nuanced HR services agreements and deliver business-aligned outcomes.
  • A track record of driving innovation in category strategy development, supplier engagement models, and internal collaborator partnerships.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate complex category strategies, influence senior stakeholders, and manage change across functions and regions.
  • Familiarity with procurement platforms such as Ariba, Scout, Sirion Labs as well as ERP systems and advanced analytics tools to support decision-making and process automation.
  • Ability to proactively identify underlying business needs and craft strategic solutions across the HR Services landscape.
  • Capable of using spend analytics and benchmarking to inform category strategies and uncover new value opportunities.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory landscapes, with the ability to navigate and manage compliance requirements.
  • Ability to articulate a forward-looking category vision for HR Services and rally partners around a shared, value-driven agenda.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
