Job summary

Belle Tire Inc. offers an entry-level Automotive Technician Trainee position as part of the Auto Tech Development Program in Grand Rapids, MI.

You will work with a seasoned mentor, gain hands-on experience on real customer vehicles, and progress toward a full Automotive Technician role within six months. The program emphasizes structured training across key automotive systems, milestone competencies, and opportunities to earn ASE certifications while developing shop skills in a fast-paced retail

Qualifications

• Current student or recent graduate (within 6 months) of an ASE-accredited automotive technology program.
• Completion of brakes and steering/suspension coursework preferred.
• State of Michigan Mechanic Trainee Permit or ability to obtain within required timeframe.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Must obtain required tools within designated timeframe (program support available).

Responsibilities

• Secure vehicles to lifts and alignment machines for safe operation.
• Assist with diagnosing vehicle issues and performing repairs.
• Support brakes, suspension, and basic maintenance tasks.
• Learn repair techniques across multiple vehicle systems.
• Communicate effectively with team and explain repairs when needed.
• Deliver high-quality workmanship to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Stay current with evolving automotive technology and tools.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.
• Complete required training milestones and program competencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by store leadership.
