Job summary

Genuine Parts Company is seeking an Assistant Store Manager for our NAPA retail store to leverage automotive knowledge and customer service excellence to operate the store and lead the team. The role supports the Store Manager across store functions, with direct customer-facing sales duties, oversight of counter sales, inventory, delivery coordination, and safety.

Overtime and keyholder duties may apply as needed to ensure standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent or technical/trade school completion.
• Experience in automotive after-market or willingness to learn automotive knowledge.
• Leadership experience.
• Passion for customer care and building long-term relationships.
• Thrives in a fast-paced, complex environment.
• Knowledge of cataloging and/or inventory management systems.
• Ability to lift 60 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Partner daily with Store Manager on operations, sales execution, inventory health, labor/scheduling alignment, and team performance.
• Actively sell and build customer relationships across retail and wholesale channels.
• Model expected behaviors, processes, and customer standards.
• Execute or oversee opening and closing routines (security, cash reconciliation, end-of-day reporting).
• Handle or support administrative tasks: scheduling, compliance, performance tracking, basic P&L awareness.
• Monitor and act on store metrics (sales, inventory accuracy/turn, customer satisfaction, cleanliness, labor efficiency, loss prevention).
• Provide leadership oversight, training and performance management for all store functions.
• Support talent development: coaching and mentoring successors for advancement.
• Drive adherence to safety, asset protection, and continuous improvement initiatives.
