Job summary

JOBBERS AUTOMOTIVE WHSE INC is seeking a Parts Counterperson to help customers identify, source, and purchase automotive parts. You’ll interact with retail and professional customers, process sales, and support store operations at the counter.

You will build trust, maintain accuracy in parts selection, and stay updated on vendor changes, pricing, and product availability while promoting related items and ensuring a clean, professional counter area.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic automotive parts knowledge or prior automotive/retail experience preferred.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to learn electronic parts catalogs and POS systems.
• Basic math and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers promptly in person or by phone and provide help.
• Assist customers in identifying correct parts using catalogs.
• Provide accurate pricing, availability, and recommendations.
• Process sales transactions accurately through the POS system.
• Promote related or complementary products when appropriate.
• Resolve basic issues, returns, and warranty inquiries per policy.
• Maintain knowledge of automotive parts and terminology.
• Verify part numbers and specifications before completing sales.
• Stay current on new products and pricing changes.
• Assist with stocking, labeling, and organizing inventory.
• Keep counter and sales floor clean and professional.
• Participate in cycle counts and merchandising efforts.
• Assist with receiving and putting away freight.
• Communicate clearly with customers and team members.
• Escalate complex issues to management when needed.
• Follow all company policies and safety guidelines.
• Maintain accuracy in parts identification and transactions.
• Deliver friendly, professional customer service.
• Be reliable, punctual, and ready for scheduled shifts.
• Contribute to team morale and store culture.
• Support store sales goals and operational standards.
