Job summary

Manheim, a Cox Automotive company, is seeking an Auto Maintenance Tech to perform essential repairs and maintenance across various vehicles in the Matteson, IL area. The role offers a Tuesday–Saturday schedule with a sign-on bonus and benefits.

You will perform routine maintenance, diagnose and repair systems, and assist with upfitting new vehicles while upholding safety procedures and quality work across a team.

Qualifications

• Up to 2 years of related work experience.
• A valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Ability to drive standard, automatic, and electric vehicles.
• Preferred: High school diploma/GED.
• Current ASE Certifications: G1, A4, A5 status.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine auto maintenance, including oil and filter changes, fuel filter replacements, transmission flushes, spark plug replacements, and vehicle inspections.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle systems, including brake, steering, suspension systems, starting and charging electrical/AC systems (including evacuation and recharge).
• Perform a variety of mechanical and component repairs, including tires, rear main seals, timing covers, radiators, and interior/exterior components.
• Test, maintain, and replace key components, including batteries and related electrical systems.
• Complete routine maintenance on shop equipment.
• Utilize approved vendors to source and obtain parts.
• Assist with upfitting new vehicles with required equipment.
• Comply with applicable safety and environmental procedures and regulations.

What You’ll Do

You’ll perform light‑duty work as an intermediate‑level auto technician in a supportive team environment. You will:

• Complete routine auto maintenance, including oil and filter changes, fuel filter replacements, transmission flushes, spark plug replacements, and vehicle inspections.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle systems, including brake, steering, suspension systems, starting and charging electrical/AC systems (including evacuation and recharge).
• Perform a variety of mechanical and component repairs, including tires, rear main seals, timing covers, radiators, and interior/exterior components.
• Test, maintain, and replace key components, including batteries and related electrical systems.
• Complete routine maintenance on shop equipment.
• Utilize approved vendors to source and obtain parts.
• Assist with upfitting new vehicles with required equipment.
• Comply with applicable safety and environmental procedures and regulations, including proper handling of recyclables, fluids, tires, and waste.

USD 22.07 - 33.13 per hour

Compensation

Hourly pay rate is in the range of $22.07 - $33.13/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.

Benefits

Employees are eligible to receive a minimum of sixteen hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
