Job summary

Truist is seeking a Loan Underwriter to evaluate and underwrite retail loan applications, ensuring adherence to fraud controls and policy guidelines. You will assist dealers with financing options and promote a positive client experience while maintaining risk standards.

The role requires experience in retail finance, strong communication, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Regular on-site work with opportunities to engage in dealer events and ongoing training are

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Three years of retail finance experience underwriting dealer loans.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong customer service skills with internal and external clients.
• Demonstrated problem-solving ability in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to multi-task and support department initiatives.
• Ability to understand larger loan requests and underwrite timely.
• Proficiency with basic computer applications incl. Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Process and decide credit applications, including larger dollar requests, following policies.
• Make credit decisions within SLA timeframes.
• Address dealer/customer questions on underwriting, procedures and promotions.
• Conduct direct mailings of current programs to dealers to develop relationships.
• Build dealer relationships via tele-consulting, visits and open houses.
• Maintain knowledge of products and MSRPs used in financing.
• Assist in developing and implementing new loan processing policies and procedures.
• Support other departments with tasks that do not violate separation of duties.
