Job summary

Concord Group Insurance in Maine is seeking an Auto Physical Damage Adjuster to investigate, evaluate, and settle claims arising from our insureds and commercial clients. You will apply policy language, determine liability, negotiate settlements, and coordinate with agents and customers. This role requires licensing, ongoing training, and a commitment to accuracy, service, and professional conduct.

Starting pay ranges from $50,000 to $65,000 per year with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or direct equivalent experience with property/casualty claims handling
• Ability to read, interpret, and react to documents such as insurance policies
• Ability to assemble information, develop opinions, and clearly express decisions
• Ability to write reports and compose correspondence
• Ability to communicate clearly in oral and written formats
• Ability to demonstrate good problem-solving and interpersonal skills
• Ability to organize assigned work and maintain confidentiality

Responsibilities

• Assemble facts, determine coverage, evaluate the amount of loss, and analyze legal liability
• Make payments in accordance with coverage, damage, and liability determination and perform other functions or duties to properly adjust the loss
• Study insurance policies, endorsements, and forms to develop foundational knowledge of Company insurance products
• Learn and comply with claim handling procedures
• Develop skills in claim negotiations and settlements
• Effectively service needs of agents, insureds, and others
• Meet with people involved with claims, sometimes outside of our office environment
• Obtain and maintain appropriate adjuster's license(s) as required
• Complete relevant continuing education programs as required
• Maintain punctual attendance according to an assigned work schedule at a Company approved work location
• Handle claims activities and investigations by phone, mail, and occasional on-site investigations
• Use technology-based information for reference, enter information into computer systems and develop specialized skills
• Work on increasingly complex claims as assigned
