Job summary

Gersh Autism in Issaquah, WA is seeking a compassionate Behavior Technician (Paraprofessional) to support students with autism in both academic and behavioral settings. Responsibilities include assisting with IEPs/BIPs, providing 1:1 and small-group support, and helping students with daily tasks and self-regulation strategies.

This year-round school program offers growth opportunities through training with behavioral analysts and potential advancement within the Gersh Autism network.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree or higher in education, psychology, or related field preferred.
• Experience with children, autism, or special needs is a plus but not required.
• Willingness to become a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) within a specified time frame.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy, and flexibility in various situations.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher with IEPs and BIPs for students with autism.
• Provide one-on-one and small-group support to promote academic, social, and behavioral growth.
• Help students with daily tasks including communication, social interaction, self-management, and hygiene.
• Prepare students and materials for activities and daily transitions.
• Support students during classroom activities, field trips, and school events.
• Implement behavior strategies to promote self-regulation and learning.
• Collect and document data on student performance, behavior, and progress toward goals.
• Collaborate with teachers and behavior specialists to create a positive learning environment.
• Communicate progress and challenges with teachers and staff.
• Participate in daily training with behavioral analysts and ongoing professional development.
