Job summary

Millcreek Township School District in Erie, Pennsylvania is seeking a Special Educational Assistant for Autistic Support at Belle Valley Elementary. This full-time role supports students under the direction of teachers and specialists.

The position requires assisting with daily living activities, following directions from educators and therapists, and using basic computer tools. The district offers comprehensive benefits and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years post-secondary (48 credits), associate degree, or passing score on the Special Education Paraprofessional Assessment test administered through I.U.5.
• Willingness to follow instructions of principal, teacher, school nurse, speech and/or occupational therapist.
• Ability to assist students with daily living activities such as toileting, feeding, dressing.
• Computer knowledge and willingness to work with new technology.
• Must be certified (or able to be certified) in CPR, First Aid and UKERU with 20 hours annual PD.
• Alternatives to the above may be acceptable per the Board.

Responsibilities

• Assist in small group or individual review with students in math, reading and other curricula areas as designated by teacher.
• Work with other students while teacher is teaching groups, including one-on-one follow-up without direct supervision.
• Assist students in elective subjects (Art, Music, P.E.).
• Assist with daily living activities (toileting, feeding, dressing).
• Assist during lunch/recess and field trips as needed.
• Operate assistive devices and logs for billing related services.
• Record data under supervision of teacher and maintain annual training as required.
