Job summary

Central York High School in York, PA seeks a full-time Special Education/IA/PCA Assistant to support autistic students and the instructional team for the 2026/2027 school year.

The role involves assisting with IEPs, classroom activities, behavior monitoring, and collaboration with teachers, families, and staff. 7.25-hour days, 186 days per year, with a salary range and district-provided benefits.

Qualifications

• Two years of post-secondary study (48 credits) or an Associate degree or higher.
• Possess PDE credential options (Credential of Competency or CAPE with 80% passing and PD hours).
• Current First Aid and CPR certification required.
• Must obtain PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse and FBI background checks within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support to students in assigned classroom or group.
• Assist students with IEPs, monitor behavior, and help with homework and use of technology.
• Prepare students for quizzes and tests and administer quizzes/tests per IEP guidance.
• Attend IEP and team meetings as required and become familiar with IEPs.
• Set up learning activities, provide one-on-one support, and assist with data collection and grading.
• Teach learning strategies to individuals or small groups and develop learning activities.
• Record assessment data for students with special needs.
• Supervise students in halls, meals, assemblies, and daily routines.
• Provide services in community/work environments for learners with disabilities.

Education

Two years of post-secondary study (48 credits)

Associates Degree or higher

Special Education Credential of Competency or CAPE test with PD

Maintain 20 hours per year of PD

First Aid and CPR certification

Background checks (PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse and FBI) within 12 months
