Job summary

Pitt County Schools is seeking a Special Education Teacher Assistant to support autism classroom students in implementing IEP goals and providing targeted assistance within the classroom. The role includes push-in support, behavior management, and small-group instructional activities under the supervision of the Exceptional Children's Program.

Responsibilities include preparing materials, assisting with personal care as trained, data collection, and maintaining confidentiality of student records

Qualifications

• Applicants should have prior experience working with children, preferably with disabilities.
• Experience with behavioral support is desirable.
• Ability to follow teacher plans and adapt to classroom routines.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in implementing Individual Education Program goals.
• Provide push-in or resource support in general education settings.
• Assist with behavioral support and monitor on-task behavior.
• Prepare materials, set up learning centers, and follow schedules.
• Assist with personal care needs and medical procedures as trained.
• Support data collection for student progress.
• Serve as a substitute teacher in absence of the lead teacher.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records.
• Adhere to school policies and discipline procedures.
• Help maintain a neat and organized classroom.
