JOB DESCRIPTION

North Way Christian Community is seeking a 30-hour, Autism Ministry Coordinator for our Dormont Campus. The Autism Ministry Coordinator is a relational and organized ministry leader who will help create an environment where individuals with autism and other special needs can encounter Jesus, build meaningful relationships, and engage in worship and community.

This role will coordinate and support the execution of Autism Ministry at the Dormont Campus, working closely with the Campus Pastor, Kids Director, other ministry leaders, families, and volunteers. The Autism Ministry Coordinator will help develop ministry systems, coordinate volunteers, provide individualized accommodations and support, and ensure that participants and families feel welcomed, cared for, and equipped to grow in their faith.

The Autism Ministry utilizes intentional accommodations, modifications, and sensory supports, including fully equipped sensory rooms, to provide personalized care based on the unique needs of each individual. The Autism Ministry Coordinator will help ensure these resources are effectively implemented while fostering an environment that empowers ministry growth and expands God’s Kingdom.

QUALIFICATIONS

Fundamental qualifications for all applicants include a growing relationship with God, a desire to impact the world with the love and message of Jesus Christ, a discerned calling into this position, and a willingness to regularly attend and participate in North Way worship services and ministry activities.

The minimum qualifications for this position include:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in Special Education, a related field, or an equivalent area of study, with relevant experience and a demonstrated understanding of supporting individuals with special needs.

• Experience supporting individuals with autism and/or other developmental disabilities is preferred, including familiarity with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices.

• Experience with sensory processing needs, visual supports, individualized accommodations, behavior support strategies, and evidence-based practices that promote communication, inclusion, and engagement.

• 4+ years experience working with those with disabilities and/or special education training

• Prior experience in Kids Ministry preferred

• CPR Certified

• Background checks must be current
