Job summary

Sarasota is seeking a dedicated instructional paraprofessional to support students with special needs in a classroom setting. You will assist with academic and behavioral instruction under a certified staff member, and you may participate in required training including autism-related workshops and CPI training.

The role involves supervision of students, data collection, creating instructional materials, supporting health and safety tasks, and maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Passing ParaPro Assessment Test or an AA/AS degree or 60-hour equivalent.
• Must have basic knowledge of children with special needs.
• Able to communicate effectively and follow directions.
• Ability to work independently and support classroom interventions.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervising students and school-wide tasks as assigned.
• Participate in required workshops and training sessions.
• Assist with personal care and hygiene tasks.
• Perform clerical duties such as copying, filing, recording and data collection.
• Assist in creating and maintaining a safe learning and workplace environment.
• Maintain positive relationships with staff and families.
• Communicate with staff and parents.
• Follow district policies and procedures.
