Job summary

A Step Up Academy is seeking a Teacher Assistant to support students ages 4-21 with autism spectrum disorder in a highly specialized educational environment. The TA will assist the classroom teacher with planning, instruction, and data collection while providing direct instructional, behavioral, social-emotional, and adaptive support throughout the school day.

Responsibilities include implementing individualized programs, supporting communication, and maintaining a structured learning

Qualifications

• Experience in special education settings and autism-focused programs.
• Ability to implement behavioral supports and instructional strategies.
• Familiarity with IEPs, PBSPs, and communication systems.
• Commitment to safety, crisis prevention, and trauma-informed practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Teacher in planning, preparing, organizing, and implementing instruction aligned with ASUA curriculum and IEP goals.
• Provide direct academic instruction in one-to-one, small group, and whole-group settings.
• Modify instructional materials and teaching strategies to maximize engagement and success.
• Implement accommodations, SDI, communication supports, and visual/sensory supports with fidelity.
• Assist with data collection of instructional and behavioral progress and maintain records.
• Collaborate with teachers, service providers, and families to ensure consistency across environments.
• Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary meetings, and professional development.
