Job summary

Hawthorne Foundation on the Manhattan Campus seeks a Teacher's Assistant/Paraprofessional to support a classroom under a NYSED certified teacher. You will implement daily and weekly programs, assist with attendance and data, and accompany students to medical appointments as needed.

The ideal candidate has an Associate Degree or 48 college credits (or a high school diploma minimum) and experience with developmentally disabled is a plus. Certification required within 3 months.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or 48 college credits preferred; minimum high school diploma.
  • Experience with developmentally disabled is a plus.
  • Current NYSED Teacher Assistant Certification or certification within 3 months.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing daily and weekly programs under NYSED certified teacher.
  • Help with attendance, requisitions, trip lists and data graphing.
  • Support students in daily hygiene and accompanying medical appointments.
  • Participate in in-service training and required certification courses.
