Job summary

Eden Autism Services in Hamilton, NJ is hiring Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to support adults in group homes and day programs. Training is provided; positions include full-time and part-time with flexible schedules. Training 8 am–4 pm, Monday–Friday, for two weeks is mandatory.

Duties include safety, life skills teaching, transportation, and reporting. EOE. Day Program sites are in Hamilton, Plainsboro, and West Windsor, NJ with 8am–4pm shifts.

Qualifications

• 19 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license with record in good standing (5 points or less) + 3 years of driving experience.
• Ability to meet physical requirements including lifting/moving up to 50 lbs; ability to sit, stand, bend, squat, kneel, stretch, stoop, reach.
• Pass and maintain Professional Crisis Management (PCM) certification, including implementation of all strategies and techniques.
• Move or be moved quickly to ensure safety of students and participants.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Excel.
• Comfortable using an Apple iPad for data collection.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring the safety of those we support at all times.
• Teaching individuals basic life skills (cooking, laundry, cleaning, personal hygiene).
• Assisting with daily activities including shopping, leisure, and doctor visits.
• Driving participants to and from group homes and day centers, and around the community.
• Tracking growth of individuals and providing information to supervisors.
• Communicating with family, colleagues, and supervisors, and completing required reports.
