Job summary

Avondale House is seeking a dedicated individual to provide direct support within the day habilitation program for adults with autism. You will train participants in daily living, social and vocational skills and accompany them to volunteer activities and community outings.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, CPR certification, a valid driver’s license, and experience with autistic or intellectually disabled individuals is valued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience working with autistic individuals preferred.
• Experience working with intellectually disabled individuals required.
• Patient, authoritative personality.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Train participants in the day program on life, social and vocational skills.
• Accompany and supervise participants at volunteer assignments and community activities.
• Drive participants to appointments and activities as scheduled.
• Show compassion, build rapport and encourage participants to reach their potential.
• Keep participants on task and redirect focus as needed.
• Collaborate with staff to meet participant needs in day habilitation.
