Job summary

Fabcon is seeking a field-oriented operator/supervisor to join our crew in the Midwest. The role involves coordinating with crew members, maintaining safety compliance, and ensuring accurate timekeeping and reporting on job sites.

Candidate must hold a valid CDL Class A, have at least two years of commercial driving experience, and be skilled in operating a skid steer. OSHA 30-hour certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise crew and coordinate with teammates to complete jobs safely and efficiently.
  • Enforce safety procedures per OSHA/ISO standards.
  • Maintain daily crew hours for payroll accuracy and report to superiors.
  • Communicate with general contractor and subs to ensure project alignment.
  • Prepare and review auger installations and ground locations as required.
  • Complete layouts and drawings for auger installation and ensure quality control.

Job description

Purpose/Summary

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Work concurrently with crew to complete job while supervising work
  • Ensure that established safety procedures are followed
  • Provide work direction, and promote teamwork, amongst the crew members
  • Daily logging and review of crew members hours to ensure payroll accuracy
  • Represent the company on, and off, job sites and communicate effectively with general contractor and sub-contractors
  • Implement company policies and procedures to ensure work performance is in compliance with ISO and OSHA standards, and DOT regulations
  • Complete new hire paperwork for local union members when required
  • Provide daily reporting via tablet as required to administrative personnel as required
  • Interface for internal and external customers to ensure satisfactory completion of the job
  • Communicates all problems to the superintendent in a timely manner
  • Verify auger details prior to starting the job
  • Inspection of augers prior to use
  • Brace and auger maintenance as required
  • Verify ground locates have been completed prior to auger installation
  • Complete layouts of drawings as required for auger installation
  • Complete work in a manner that minimizes cleanup work
Basic Qualifications
  • Valid commercial driver’s license (class A)
  • Minimum of two years’ experience of commercial driving experience
  • Experience operating a skid steer
Other Required Qualifications
  • Computer skills
  • Ability to use construction mensuration equipment (i.e. transits, levels, and laser levels)
  • Ability to work well with others and maintain professional conduct at all times
  • Possess excellent work habits and be able to demonstrate them to subordinates
  • Knowledge of crane set-up and signaling
  • Knowledgeable about all aspects of erecting pre-cast buildings
  • Ability to effectively communicate with personnel at different levels
  • Ability to foresee potential problems and take necessary action to prevent the problems from occurring
  • Ability to work in an organized manner and adapt readily to change
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings
Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma (or equivalent)
  • Completion of OSHA 30-hour
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to travel when required
  • Ability to work extensive overtime when requiredAbility to work from heights
  • Field: Must be able to traverse uneven ground, move minimum of 50lbs., spatial awareness/depth perception, climb on a flatbed semi-trailer
Work Environments
  • Field:All types of weather conditions (year-round, Mid-west and Northeast), dirt/dust, noise from heavy machinery/vehicles
